Beginner Crochet: Master the Classic Granny Square
Ready to dive into crochet? The classic granny square is a great starting point for creating blankets, bags and sweaters. In this relaxed, beginner-friendly, two-part class, you’ll learn the basics of crochet step by step.
In the first class, you’ll learn how to hold your crochet hook and create the center of your square using the double crochet stitch. In the second class, you’ll learn how to expand your square and fasten off your work. By the end of the series, you’ll have completed your first granny square and gained the confidence to start exploring larger projects!
Prerequisites: None! This class is designed for beginners.
Required Student Materials: Please bring:
- One 5.0 mm (H-8) crochet hook
- One skein of smooth, solid-colored, worsted-weight (size 4) cotton or acrylic yarn
For easier learning, please choose a light-colored yarn and avoid dark colors or fuzzy textures
If class is full, please enroll to be added to the waitlist. We will contact you if a space becomes available.
