Safe at Home Alone ClassEvening/Weekend ProgramsJoin the St. Louis Park Police Department in collaboration with St. Louis Park Community Education Youth Enrichment Programs, and St. Louis Park Fire Department to learn how your child can be safe at home alone. This class will equip students ages 8 to 11-years-old with the basic awareness and skills to stay home alone for short periods of time. Prevention, problem-solving, and managing real-life situations will be the basis for students to learn and include basic first-aid, how to call 9-1-1 and what happens when you do, safe activities you can do while home alone, and kitchen safety. Parents and caregivers are invited to attend alongside their student, but it is not required. A Q & A session will be available for students and adults at the end of the session.Fall 2026 -

The course includes diagnostic testing, strategic instruction, and applied testing to all areas covered on the ACT. A major objective of the Advantage course is to help students stay abreast of any changes in the constantly evolving ACT test. This is an excellent alternative for any student unable to attend in-school class or for students who prefer to prepare for the ACT exam on their own and at their desired pace. Sewing Machine Clinic/Learn to Sew SessionsArts & CraftsDo you have a sewing machine that is gathering dust because you’re not comfortable using it? We will cover basic maintenance and cleaning techniques, then sew simple tote bags. Confident beginners should also have time to choose and sew an accessory such as a scarf or bag with a zipper. Before class begins, please make sure that you have 2 yards of cotton fabric, a sewing machine, at least 2 bobbins, at least 2 sewing machine needles, the power cord and foot pedal for your machine, thread, a seam ripper, and the manual for your machine. If you don’t have a manual, we may be able to find a downloadable version online. If your machine has extra feet or tools, make sure you have them ready. If you don’t have a machine, please contact the instructor before class for advice on how to find one. If class is full, please enroll to be added to the waitlist.
