Join the ultimate role-playing adventure! In this middle school Dungeons & Dragons workshop, you’ll build your own hero, team up with fellow players, and dive into epic stories full of mystery, monsters, and magic. Learn the basics of the game while using teamwork, strategy, and creativity to shape your own fantasy world! This campaign is led by North Star Adventuring.

From old school gaming system (NES) to time and space to play D&D with your friends, join the Middle School Gaming Club to spend after school socializing and gaming at the same time.

Activity: PushIt - Students will program simple-to-play but hard-to-master timing based blinking light games. Activity: Reflex Game - Students will use a software library to display response times. The durations, from starting and stopping a timer, will be shown on OLED displays. Activity: Run-n-Jump Game - Students will use a software library and edit a sketch to make their own games; played on OLED displays. Activity: Friendly Robot 2.0 - Students will use a software library to create battery powered robot faces; customizable to each students’ liking.

Activity: Fun with Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) - Students will first learn some basics of: C programming language, electronics, and microprocessors. Then, combine their knowledge to write introductory program sketches, to make LEDs blink and fade and flash in fun patterns. Activity: Stoplight - Students will use a sketch to program LED stoplight modules. And, light them in the familiar traffic control pattern, or as they wish. Activity: Fun with NeoPixel - Students will learn how to use a software library, to program NeoPixel LED modules, and light them in various entertaining ways. Then, pick their single favorite display. Activity: Light Box - Students will first choose from four base sketches to program NeoPixel modules. Then, customize their chosen effect. Finally, assemble their creations into light boxes for even more customizable displays.

Join our Urban Debate Team! The debate team is where you can use your voice, embrace your power, and learn how to make the change you want to see in the world. Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesday's after school beginning on Wednesday, October 7th. This is a team and we will participate in tournaments against other schools throughout the season, beginning in January. We participate in 3 all-team tournaments in our conference, and then select teams of 2 debaters will represent SLPMS in the City Championship, against all Metro Middle School Urban Debate teams in March. This is a free program! Purchase a team shirt to wear to tournaments for $20. There will be other opportunities to pay for the shirt, if you don't want to pay when registering.
