Learn How to Ride a Bike
"Learn how to ride a bike! In this class we will build the skills and confidence needed to get pedaling on 2 wheels.
Goals:
- Have fun! Whatever happens, we want bicycles to be associated with a positive experience, so we put fun first, always.
- Get pedaling! Most students leave the course either confidently pedaling on their own, or very close to getting it. We do not guarantee that they will be pedaling by the end, but we will do our best to ensure they want to try again.
Expectations: Participants come well fueled, rested, and ready to learn. Learning to ride for the first time takes a lot of strength and stamina. Let the instructors lead the class. We'll let you know when it's a good time to step in and support but parents and caregivers should be observing. What to bring:
- A safe, working bicycle - for learning to ride, the bike should be small enough that the rider's feet can be flat on the ground while they're seated on the saddle. We'll have some tools to make minor adjustments to the bike, but we won't be able to make significant repairs.
- A well fitting helmet - too tight, and the helmet wll be uncomfortable, too loose and it won't protect us in a crash. Here's a great guide if you're concerned about helmet fitment.
- Weather appropriate clothes they can move in
- Sturdy, closed toe shoes that will stay on their feet
- Water and snacks
