Bike Trailside and Home Repair/Maintenance
This three-hour class will build from basic to more advanced skills, helping you solve many common bike issues. We’ll focus on identifying bicycle parts, trailside repairs, shifting and brake adjustments, chain maintenance, fixing a flat tire (repairing/replacing a tube), and performing a safety check. If time allows, we’ll also cover basic wheel truing, replacing a chain, and changing brake and shifting cables. A great value when you consider the cost of a tune-up.
Please bring a bike-especially one that needs work!
Erik Bloom
Erik’s passion for teaching began in the late 90s with a youth bike program east of St. Paul. A lifelong cyclist, bike shop veteran, and mountain bike racer, he spent 20 years as a corporate Director of Training, mastering the art of simple, effective instruction. Recognizing the need for riders to be confident and self-sufficient, Erik founded Bjorn Cycling. Today, the organization empowers youth and families with hands-on, approachable cycling education offered in neighborhoods, workplaces, and over ten metro community centers building skills, confidence, and a lasting love of riding.
At Bjorn Cycling, we believe every rider’s journey becomes richer when they understand the machine beneath them. That’s why we teach riders of all ages the essential skills of bicycle maintenance and repair because confidence doesn’t just come from riding, it comes from knowing you can take care of your bike wherever the trail leads.
