Author Event: Shayna
Join local author Miriam Ruth Black for a discussion of her novel Shayna, an inspiring historical story of courage, resilience, and hope. Set in 1919, the novel follows 17-year-old Shayna Rifkin as she escapes violence in her Ukrainian shtetl and undertakes a perilous journey across Europe to America with her young nephew, fiancé, and future mother-in-law.
Steeped in the rich Yiddish culture of the Eastern European shtetl and New York City's Lower East Side, Shayna explores the power of family, perseverance, and the immigrant experience. Following the presentation, there will be time for questions and book signing.
